In a recent paper we present an investigation on the influence of long-lasting preshearing history in granular soils.

Have you ever wondered how the design of deep dump slopes takes into account soil resistance to liquefaction during earthquakes? In the framework of a DFG Project (German Research Foundation) and in cooperation with Keller Grundbau as well as the Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus - Senftenberg we investigated these geotechnical questions. Experiments revealed that preshearing significantly affects strain accumulation upon cyclic loading, and advanced models may not fully account for these findings.
